My Work

Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

In addition to being an art teacher, I'm a practicing artist. On this page you will find some of my many illustrations, drawings, paintings etc.

Take a look around and enjoy. Drop me a message and tell me what you think

How it all began...

Often my students ask me how I started with Art. It all started when I was around 5 and my parents gave me a How to Draw Woody Woodpecker drawing book. From that point on I was hooked. I drew all the time. I would doodle in class, when I was suppose to be paying attention, when I was suppose to be doing my homework, all the time. As I got older, I discovered oil pastels...a medium I love to use til this day. I started to explore different media...it was fun.

But as things go, I started to lose interest in high school. I took only one art class, and while I was proficient, I was no Picasso. I was more interested in my friends, girls, sports, and making money.

Then college hit. I started out as a business major. I hit Accounting 101 and discovered that business was not for me. I went through a program that highlighted my strengths and pointed me in a different direction, teaching. But what to teach??

I didn't like Math, wasn't very good at English, the thought of teaching Kindergarten gave my anxiety. It finally dawned on me, Art. I was always good at Art and so my journey began. Early on, I didn't create any art. I don't know why, I just didn't.

As the years moved along, I slowly, little by little, I started discovering my own talents again. I branched out into acrylic painting, some sculpture, and drawing cartoons, like in cartoon strips.

What you see on this page is just a sampling of my work. I'm also branching out as a book creator by putting together a book of cartoon strips called Primary Colors which I will self publish. I've also been working on a children's book titled Where's Carly which I hope to publish later this year.

Take a look around and enjoy, get inspiration, and tell me what you think, I'd love to hear from you.
